The City of Geneva has introduced a new initiative to spotlight residents who are revitalizing their neighborhoods. The first-ever Pride in Geneva Award will recognize individuals and property owners for making exceptional upgrades to their homes and buildings.
Spearheaded by Geneva Industrial Development Agency (IDA) board member Lowell Dewey, the program honors a wide range of efforts—from modest home improvements to the preservation of historic apartment buildings near Pulteney Park.
Dewey, a local architect and builder, led the award effort with support from Catherine Price of the Geneva Business Improvement District and Neal Braman, the City’s Superintendent of Building & Zoning. Together, the team selected the first group of honorees and organized a public presentation.
Each award recipient will receive a custom plaque featuring the City of Geneva and HEP Materials logos. HEP also donated a bucket of building materials to each honoree.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 30 at 6 p.m. at the Bozzuto Center, located at 22 Castle Street. Properties being recognized include:
· William Street’s Bottle Land Wine & Spirits (formerly the Corner Market)
· 300 Jay Street
· 442 Castle Street
· 2–4 Park Place
· The Rex on Main (505 S. Main Street)
The City congratulated the recipients “for their outstanding contributions to Geneva’s character and quality of life.”
