Penn Yan woman sentenced in fatal hit-and-run

A 27-year-old Penn Yan woman was sentenced to jail and probation after pleading guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal accident, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

Sarah E. Olsen received 180 days in Yates County Jail and five years’ probation for the September 2024 incident that resulted in the death of a 1-year-old child. The crash occurred on Route 364 in the Town of Benton, and Olsen was arrested the following day.

She entered her guilty plea in January to a class D felony charge in Yates County Court.
