Seneca Falls man accused of using fake cash to pay court fines

A man is facing a felony charge after deputies say he used counterfeit bills to pay court fines in Seneca County.

Deputies arrested 30-year-old Cody A. Sabol of Seneca Falls after an investigation into the incident, which happened on September 25 around 7:45 p.m.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Sabol allegedly used the fake bills at the county’s Finance Department. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree — a class C felony under New York law.

Deputies processed Sabol at the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center. He’s expected to appear in Waterloo Town Court on October 15 to answer the charge.
