Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) praised the U.S. House of Representatives’ approval of a continuing resolution (CR) on Monday, calling it a necessary step to keep the federal government open while reducing spending.
In a statement following the vote, Langworthy criticized House Democrats, accusing them of attempting to obstruct the process. “Despite Democrats’ attempt to shut down the government, nothing they do will impede on President Trump’s incredible and quick work fixing our country,” he said.
Langworthy emphasized that the resolution will “reduce, then freeze spending for the next six months,” allowing time to identify waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. While acknowledging that a CR is not a perfect solution, he argued that it is the best option to ensure the government remains operational and continues delivering essential services.
The resolution extends government funding while lawmakers work toward a long-term budget deal.
