VOTE THURSDAY: Geneva school district residents to decide on $33.6M project

Geneva City School District residents will vote Thursday on a $33.6 million capital project to upgrade all four schools and the district’s transportation facility. Improvements include safety upgrades such as reinforced windows and doors, and a new traffic loop at West Street School to address unsafe conditions.

Superintendent Bo Wright emphasized the project’s focus on safety and modernization, with no tax impact due to state aid and capital reserve funding. The plan also includes upgrades to support electric bus charging stations as part of a state mandate.

If approved, detailed planning would occur this year, with construction starting in 2026 and completion expected by August 2027.
