Senator Chuck Schumer announced a landmark $825 million federal investment to establish Albany NanoTech as the first flagship facility for the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC). The funding, from the bipartisan CHIPS & Science Law, aims to position Upstate New York as a leader in semiconductor research.
The investment will support cutting-edge equipment and ultraviolet research, with NSTC offices and services set to open in Albany. Schumer and Governor Kathy Hochul highlighted this as a pivotal step in advancing U.S. chip production, boosting national security, and creating jobs in New York’s advanced manufacturing sector.
This agreement strengthens New York’s role in technological innovation and economic growth.
