A man has been arrested in connection with a December shooting on Castle Street, but police say the investigation is ongoing, with other suspects potentially involved.
Joequell E. Solomon, 31, of Geneva, was taken into custody by the Geneva Police Department on January 13 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony. Authorities identified Solomon, a convicted felon, as a person of interest following the December 21 shooting, in which five gunshots were fired near the Geneva Public Library around 2 a.m.
No injuries were reported during the incident, but a black four-door sedan seen traveling on Castle Street at the time may be linked to the case. Police are continuing their investigation and expect to file additional charges.
Solomon was processed at the Geneva Police Department and transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he awaits arraignment.
The Geneva Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact their office. Detective Lieutenant John Van Savage can be reached at 315.828.6779, and anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 315.828.6771 or emailing [email protected].
