Steve Buschman was officially sworn in as Cayuga County Family Court judge during a ceremony at Auburn’s Old Post Office. Surrounded by family, friends, and local officials, Buschman expressed gratitude for their support and emphasized his commitment to serving the community with humility and dedication.
Buschman, a longtime Auburn attorney, was elected in November after defeating Kristin Garland. His judgeship was created to address a rising backlog of family court cases. Buschman will primarily handle family court matters but will also oversee some criminal cases.
With key staff appointed and judicial training underway, Buschman is set to begin court sessions the week of Jan. 20.
