Contractor avoids jail after fraud investigation

A contractor accused of defrauding customers across multiple counties from 2013 to 2016 is expected to avoid jail time. Douglas Shanley admitted to attempted grand larceny in satisfaction of all charges.

Shanley was previously indicted for failing to complete contracted work and allegedly fleeing the area. Prosecutors anticipate he will receive probation and be ordered to pay restitution when sentenced in March.

The case concludes years of fraud investigations into Shanley’s business practices.
