A Rochester company stepped up to honor veterans at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Victor, donating $3,000 to replace brass grave markers stolen from the site.
The Rochester Optical Manufacturing Company presented a check to the Victor American Legion on Monday, covering the cost of the markers taken in September. Some of the missing markers had stood for nearly a century.
With the donation, the cemetery restored all markers in time for Veterans Day, and Butler has since added security measures to deter further theft.
New York State Police continue to investigate the thefts, but no arrests have been made.
