New York unemployment claims dip as U.S. filings rise slightly

Unemployment claims in New York decreased last week, with initial jobless filings falling to 13,758 for the week ending Nov. 2, down from 14,072 the previous week, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

This decline comes as a positive indicator for New York’s job market.

Nationally, however, unemployment claims saw a slight increase, rising to 221,000, up by 3,000 claims on a seasonally adjusted basis.

North Dakota experienced the largest percentage increase in claims, while the Virgin Islands reported the biggest drop.
