Two Brooklyn residents were taken into custody on November 6 after a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 87 led police to uncover illegal firearms, a stolen license plate, and forged documents. The incident began at approximately 7:35 p.m. when State Police troopers from the Tarrytown barracks observed a 2021 Nissan Sentra traveling northbound near exit 7 in the village of Ardsley, allegedly in violation of multiple traffic laws.
Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, identified as 26-year-old Selena Lasco, reportedly refused to comply, leading officers on a pursuit that lasted several miles before being called off. The vehicle was located shortly afterward on Route 59 in Nyack by the Orangetown Police Department. Lasco and her passenger, Javed Duncan, 23, were subsequently detained. Duncan allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
During their investigation, troopers discovered two illegal firearms, a stolen license plate, and a forged instrument. Lasco and Duncan now face a series of charges related to weapons possession, forgery, and resisting arrest.
Lasco’s charges include:
- Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree
- Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree (D felony)
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree (C felony)
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree
- Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree
- Multiple vehicle and traffic law infractions
Duncan faces similar charges, with additional counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (D felony), False Personation, and Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree.
Both individuals are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
