A former New York postal manager who stole drug parcels from the mail and redistributed them has been sentenced to six years in federal prison, officials announced Friday.
Ralph Minni, 55, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine and illegal firearm possession while using drugs. U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa handed down the sentence.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean C. Eldridge, Minni, a former station manager at the Greece Post Office, repeatedly removed parcels containing drugs like marijuana from the mail between 2018 and 2022, rerouting them to his office before emptying and returning them to the postal system. He then transported the drugs to his home, where he stored and sold them. In spring 2022, Minni also distributed cocaine to a coworker, who used it in his office.
The investigation revealed extensive contraband at Minni’s residence, including 700 grams of cocaine, 40 firearms, and more than 19,000 rounds of ammunition, according to authorities. Minni was arrested on May 2, 2022, after officers found marijuana in his vehicle, removed from a package he intended to sell.
The case involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and other local and federal law enforcement agencies.
