After a courageous battle, Lyons teacher and tennis coach Colleen Boardman has overcome breast cancer, inspiring her community with her resilience.
Diagnosed in January 2024 amid a family history of the disease, Boardman underwent surgery at Pluta Cancer Center and completed radiation treatments by June. With 26 years of teaching and 24 years of coaching at Lyons Central School District, she remains a beloved figure.
To support their coach, the Girls’ Varsity Tennis team sold “Smash Breast Cancer” T-shirts, donating proceeds to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, which aided Boardman during her journey.
