The Bloomfield Central School District’s girls’ volleyball program held its annual Fight for Gold fundraiser last week, raising more than $5,000 in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The funds will benefit Dylan’s Defenders, a charity named in memory of Dylan Smith, a 2024 Canandaigua Academy graduate.
In a special pre-match ceremony, the team also honored one of their own, varsity volleyball player Bri Leitten, who is celebrating her 11th year of remission from cancer.
The Bloomfield community, along with the Avon volleyball team, faculty, and staff, came together for the event, showing strong support for the cause. The district extended its gratitude to everyone who participated, including the Smith family, for their ongoing commitment to childhood cancer awareness.
