State Police Investigate False Reports of Shooting at New York State Fair

State Police are investigating reports of possible shooting incidents at the New York State Fair on September 1, 2024, that led to an early closure of the fairgrounds.

At 8:38 p.m., State Police received a call reporting possible shots fired between the midway and Suburban Park concert area. Just three minutes later, a second call came in reporting potential gunfire near the eatery building. Troopers quickly responded to both locations but found no evidence of shots fired or injuries.

After consulting with Fair officials, authorities decided to close the Fair early as a precaution. State Police are continuing their investigation into the false reports that caused the disruption.

The incident remains under review to ensure the safety of all fairgoers.
