Perkins School’s Reading Week, themed “Olympics/Go for Gold,” was a hit among Pre-K through second-grade students, featuring activities centered around Olympians and a goal of reading 1,000 books. Students exceeded expectations, reading 1,225 books by the week’s end.
The event kicked off with students tracking their reading on tickets, which they returned to school. On April 22, children’s book author and illustrator Jeff Mack visited, holding four assemblies. Mack shared his journey, emphasizing hard work and determination in achieving his goals, aiming to inspire students to pursue their dreams.
Throughout the week, younger students created collages related to Mack’s books in art class. Guest readers visited from Tuesday to Thursday, and a Scholastic Book Fair was held during Reading Night. The successful event was organized by a dedicated committee of teachers and staff, who ensured an enriching and enjoyable experience for all students.
