A routine traffic stop in the Village of Bath led to the arrest of a local woman on drug possession charges, according to the Bath Police Department.
On July 2, at approximately 2:32 p.m., officers observed a vehicle violate a section of New York’s Vehicle and Traffic Law on West Washington Street. Following the stop and subsequent investigation, police arrested 32-year-old Amanda L. Sprayberry of Bath.
Sprayberry was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and a traffic infraction for failing to signal within 100 feet of a turn.
Officers suspected criminal activity during the stop and conducted a search of the vehicle. According to the department, Sprayberry was found in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
She was arrested, processed, and released on an appearance ticket, as the charges did not qualify for bail. Sprayberry is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
