Penn Yan man charged with meth possession after traffic stop in Bath

A Penn Yan man was arrested following a traffic stop in the Village of Bath that led to the discovery of illegal drugs, police announced.

On June 27 around 8:00 p.m., an officer with the Bath Police Department stopped a vehicle on Haverling Street for a violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. During the stop, officers conducted a search and found a quantity of methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

The driver, Gordon H. Clayson, 55, was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. Clayson was also issued a traffic ticket for driving without a license.


He was processed at the Bath Police Department and released on an appearance ticket. Clayson is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
