Finger Lakes, Central New York will share over $1M for agriculture

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced the allocation of $5.8 million through the New York State Grown and Certified (NYS G&C) Program to bolster agricultural producers across New York.

The funding, aimed at enhancing farm infrastructure and technology, was revealed as part of the program’s second round, supported by the Regional Economic Development Council Initiative’s thirteenth round.

Managed by the New York Farm Viability Institute, the grants are intended for projects that support the state’s agricultural and food processing sectors. The initiative includes significant investment in capital projects and research to foster innovation and sustainability in farming practices.

The funding distribution will assist in developing a variety of projects across multiple regions, aimed at improving production efficiency and market competitiveness for New York’s farms.

Funding will be allocated to REDC regions as follows:

  • Finger Lakes and Central New York – $1 million for capital projects; $200,000 for research and development projects
