Auburn man part of major drug trafficking ring sentenced to 8 years

In Auburn Kyreese T. Gilliam, 27, has been sentenced to eight years in prison following his conviction for second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A felony. The sentence, handed down by Cayuga County Court Judge Thomas Leone, also includes five years of post-release supervision and addresses a count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

The Auburn Police Department, alongside the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at Gilliam’s Thornton Avenue home in March 2023. Found in possession of over $7,500 and a small amount of cocaine near his residence, Gilliam was on bail for prior unrelated gun and drug charges from July 2022.

Subsequent to the raid on Gilliam’s home, authorities seized over 77 grams of cocaine, more than 49 grams of crack cocaine, and various drug paraphernalia, underlining the significant scale of his involvement in drug trafficking.
