Sheriff Milby identified the victim in the fatal hunting incident in Savannah as Brian Bizallion, 42, of Wolcott.
Additional information wasn’t immediately available in the update that came Saturday evening.
He said the investigation remains active.
Sheriff Milby: Fatal hunting accident in Savannah under investigation
Sheriff Milby provided an update at 3:30 p.m. stating that the hunter involved in the incident in Savannah this morning has died.
“Just after 7 a.m. the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a hunter that had been shot,” Milby said in an update. “Upon arrival, it was determined that one male was fatally wounded during a hunting excursion.”
He said the incident occurred in the area of Cotten Rd., near State Route 89 in the town of Savannah.
“We are not announcing the name of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin,” Sheriff Milby added. “This is an active investigation being conducted by the sheriff’s office with the assistance of New York State DEC Police.”
He said additional information would be released as it develops.
