The Buffalo Sabres went into Winnipeg Friday night looking to snap a two-game skid, but that did not happen as a third-period comeback fell short in a 3-2 loss to the Jets, dropping to 7-9-1 on the season.
Buffalo trailed 3-1 after 40 minutes but battled back in the third period, scoring a goal in the first minute to make it a one-goal game, but Winnipeg held on in the final 30 seconds despite a heavy shorthanded push by the Sabres.
Alex Tuch returned to the lineup after missing three games due to injury and scored his fifth goal. JJ Peterka netted his seventh and has ten points in his last ten games. Rasmus Dahlin and Zach Benson tallied assists.
Buffalo went 0-for-2 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The Sabres look to get back in the win column on Sunday night in Chicago. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
