Syracuse police apprehended two individuals for carrying illegal firearms inside Destiny USA mall on Thursday, August 24.

Around 5:50 p.m., officers were alerted to a suspicious individual, later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Flynn, who was seen dropping and then concealing a revolver outside the mall.

Utilizing security camera footage, officers pinpointed Flynn and another male teen inside the shopping center. A subsequent search revealed that Flynn had a loaded HNR Sportsman .22 Long Rifle and a bag containing pocket knives, suboxone, ambien, and xanax.

The accompanying 17-year-old was found to have a loaded ‘sawed off’ Iver Johnson 12 gauge shotgun in his backpack.

Both individuals were transported to the Public Safety Building for processing. Flynn faces charges including Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Controlled Substance, and is currently at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
