Deputies: 45-year-old arrested on drug charges after Lansing incident

A woman has been arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office discovered methamphetamine during an investigation in Lansing.

According to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office, on February 18, 2023, at around 11:02 a.m., deputies observed a suspicious vehicle parked at the old Pizza Hut building located at 2301 N. Triphammer Road. Upon speaking with the occupants, the deputies noticed a beaker with what appeared to be methamphetamine inside.

Further investigation led to the discovery of three baggies of methamphetamine, a plastic vial containing methamphetamine, and the glass beaker with methamphetamine that was previously observed. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Stormie R. Coyne, 45 of Brooktondale, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a Class D felony.

Coyne was turned over to Centralized Arraignment and was scheduled to be arraigned later that afternoon. It is unclear if she has legal representation at this time.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released any further details about the incident and is asking anyone with information to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
