350 count indictment follows lengthy child abuse investigation in Steuben County

State police say a former Corning man faces more than 350 felony charges after a lengthy investigation and grand jury indictment in Steuben County.

Lauren Brooks, age 51, was arrested following an investigation and subsequent indictment by the Steuben County Grand Jury for contact he had with a minor in Corning between 2012 and 2016.


Brooks was charged with one count of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, 225 counts of second-degree criminal sex act, 73 counts of third-degree criminal sex act, 90 counts of second-degree rape, and 28 counts of third-degree rape.

Nearly all of the charges against Brooks are felonies.

He was remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.

The investigation is continuing at this time and anyone who may have been a victim of Brooks and has not come forward can contact the New York State Police at 607-962-3282.
