Days after Auburn Mayor Michael Quill announced that he would not seek re-election in 2023 a city councilor has emerged as a mayoral contender.
Auburn City Councilor Jimmy Giannettino announced his candidacy, and desire to continue serving the community.
“If I’ve learned anything in my almost eight years in elected office, it’s that steady, confident, respectful leadership matters,” he told Finger Lakes News Radio. “I want to continue that. I think there’s more to be done.”
Giannettino will spend the next 2-3 weeks assembling his campaign team.
Quill has served as mayor of Auburn since 2008.
