Seneca Falls Police Chief Stu Peenstra, who will become Undersheriff in Cayuga County in January 2023, will be providing some consulting services to the Town of Seneca Falls after his exit.
Peenstra will resign from his current role leading the Seneca Falls Police Department on December 31, 2022.
Between January 1, 2023 and June 30, 2023 Peenstra will be paid $1 per month for services to help the police department transition.
He will help the new police chief, selected by the Town Board, transition into the role.

It’s unclear at this point who will be Peenstra’s successor, or how the selection process will go. However, the 6-month grace period in 2023 does buy the town board a little extra time to get things fully-integrated for the post-Peenstra era.
He’s led the Seneca Falls Police Department since succeeding retiring Fred Capozzi in 2012.
