Deputies: Sodus man held gun to child’s head, threatened and assaulted woman during domestic

Deputies say a Sodus man was taken into custody after an investigation into a domestic incident where he allegedly held a gun to a child’s head.

James Wright Jr., 26, was arrested on a warrant for first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, and other charges.

He’s accused of having a woman drive him to the village of Newark where he held a gun to the woman’s child’s head. He then is accused of burning the woman with a cigarette and threatening to shoot the child if she moved.

Wright assaulted the woman with the gun, leaving bruises on her arms and legs.

When officers took him into custody he resisted arrest- fighting and spitting at them. He was arrested on an additional charge of obstruction as result.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
