The New York Mets announced that they have activated infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil from the paternity list ahead of their four-game series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. McNeil is in Thursday’s lineup, batting fifth and playing left field.
McNeil missed the entire three-game series against the Atlanta Braves earlier this week. The 30-year-old is hitting .311/.371/.436 with 19 doubles, one triple, and four home runs this season.
To make room on the 26-man roster, veteran outfielder Ender Inciarte was designated for assignment. He was mostly used as a pinch-runner and a late defensive replacement.
