Police: Geneva parent had BAC over three-times legal limit while dropping off student to school

On Monday, May 20 at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers from the City of Geneva Police Department Road Patrol Division responded to a complaint at North Street School regarding a possibly intoxicated driver. The Geneva Central School District School Resource Officer reported that a parent, later identified as Crystal L. Gravitte, had dropped off a student and appeared to be intoxicated.


Officers located Gravitte, a resident of Geneva, operating a vehicle on West North Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that Gravitte was driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .25%. Additionally, since she had a child under 16 years of age in the vehicle, she was charged with a felony DWI under Leandra’s Law.

Crystal L. Gravitte, 46, was charged with driving while intoxicated aggravated with a child under 16 years of age, a Class E Felony; driving while intoxicated, a Class A Misdemeanor; and aggravated driving while intoxicated, a Class A Misdemeanor. Gravitte was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Geneva City Criminal Court at a later date.
