Sabres head coach Don Granato named to Team USA’s World Championship coaching staff

Buffalo Sabres head coach Don Granato has been named to Team USA’s coaching staff for the 2022 IIHF World Championship, the team announced Thursday.

Granato, 54, will serve as an assistant coach on head coach David Quinn’s staff.

The tournament begins May 13 in Finland. Team USA’s first game will be on May 13 against Latvia.

Granato previously served as assistant coach at the World Championship in 2014 and 2018, when USA won the bronze medal. As a head coach, he led the U.S. Under-18 team to the gold medal in 2015 and silver in 2013.
