The trial of the Geneva Middle School principal facing misdemeanor charges for endangering the welfare of a child is scheduled for May.
Jury selection for the trial of John DeFazio Jr. will begin on May 24, according to Finger Lakes Times. DeFazio faces charges related to an alleged “inappropriate encounter” with a student said to have taken place on October 5, 2021 on school grounds. His trial was originally scheduled for March 29, but was postponed due to a scheduling conflict with DeFazio’s attorney Joe Damelio.
The Ontario County district attorney’s office has not released details regarding the allegations. The school board approved DeFazio’s resignation and separation agreement in December 2021 following charges brought against DeFazio a few weeks after the alleged incident.
