One state has decided to put effort into creating a stimulus check just for first responders worth $1,000.
First responders in Florida could see $1,000 checks under Governor Rob DeSantis and his plan to use $100 million dollars from the state’s new budget to pay for it.
DeSantis gave a bonus in 2021 to first responders as well.
If you didn’t get a $1,400 stimulus check you might need to amend your tax return
How will the stimulus check work and who can get it?
In order to qualify for the $1,000, you must be a sworn law enforcement officer, paramedic, EMT, or firefighter for Florida.
The goal, according to DeSantis, is to boost morale and financial assistance to this group amid inflation.
DeSantis expressed the want to support law enforcement after everything that’s happened over the last two years.
13,000 checks worth up to $500 still need to be claimed
When can first responders expect the stimulus payment?
The governor need to formally review the state’s budget before sending any sort of stimulus payment.
The budget is currently $112 billion dollars.
In addition to this stimulus check, DeSantis said he is also looking to create a stimulus package for law enforcement.
The goal with this is to provide newly hired law enforcement officers with a $5,000 bonus.
It would also increase the salaries of county sheriffs.
