Who is eligible?
Families who have at least one child under the age of six and households who are already receiving aid through CalWORKs ( the state’s public assistance program for families). When and how will I get it?
On April 1st, prepaid debit cards will be sent out to the participating families.
Through the CalWORKs assistance program, a family of four could receive up to $15,000 each year. The Big Leap program in Los Angeles is giving monthly payments of $1,000. Sacramento County is also providing up to $1,500 in hazard pay to essential workers who worked during the pandemic. The state of California is also still issuing stimulus checks up to $1,200 to eligible residents.
The state of California wants to boost these lower income families above the poverty line. That is roughly $25,000 for a family of four. Having all of these assistance programs are a great resource for families who need them.
