Seminar planned for Board of Education candidates

Have you been thinking about running for your board of education or do you know someone who is?  Do you wonder how much time it takes?  Do you want to know more about what a board member does?  The answers to these questions and more will be the subject of a “Virtual Seminar for Prospective School Board Members” on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon via Zoom.

This year, all school board members will be elected on May 17th.  Candidates for boards of education must file their nominating petitions at least 30 days prior to the election (20 days for small cities).  This seminar will help potential school board candidates and the public-at-large understand the role and responsibilities of school board service.

A school board candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, able to read and write, a district resident for one year prior to election, and not employed by the school district or related to a current member of the board of education.

There is NO CHARGE for the seminar.  Registration is required and can be done through the Four County School Boards Association: Online @ www.fourcountysba.org under Current Events, phone: (315) 332-7294, email: ([email protected]), or by calling your local school district’s board clerk. The Zoom meeting link will be sent to those who register.
