Experts are hopeful that life will return to normal by spring
Gottlieb said that COVID-19 case numbers are going to continue to drop as we get into the spring and summer. This may cause another change of restrictions in the United states. Read about it here.
According to Gottlieb, “we don’t see anything on the horizon that’s going to dramatically alter that trajectory.”

Haven’t I heard this before?
Experts, including Gottlieb, have previously made a similar prediction. Federal health officials once thought that the Delta variant would be the end of the road. When Omicron appeared, the pandemic changed its trajectory.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization commented on this. In January, he said “the end of the pandemic might not come so quickly because coronavirus is still spreading heavily throughout the world.”
He also notes that “globally, the conditions are ideal for more variants to emerge.”
