SSI recipients want to know when their SSI payment dates are in 2022, especially with the COLA increase.
Recipients can meet one, some, or all of these requirements to qualify.
Whether you qualify will depend on what you make and what you own.
You may not own over $2,000 in assets individually, or $3,000 jointly.
The more money you make, the lower your payment will be.
SSI and Social Security are different things and many seniors benefit from both.
Their Social Security may decrease their SSI.
For 2022, the COLA increase is raising monthly checks by an average of $34.
This brings the total to $621, or an average of $7,452 per year.
The most a person can receive in SSI per month is $841.
SSI payment dates in 2022
Recipients of SSI saw their first check for 2022 on Dec. 30, 2021.
That check was early because Jan. 1 is a federal holiday.
This means the next check for SSI recipients will be Feb. 1, 2022.
The regular payment date is usually the 1st of the month, but they will be impacted some months in 2022.
For the months of April, Sept., and Dec. 2022 recipients will be getting two checks.
This means there will not be checks in May 2022, Oct. 2022, or Jan. 2023.
Social Security checks do not follow the same schedule.
Checks for Social Security go out on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays every month unless a holiday changes it.
Which Wednesday depends on what day of the month your birthday falls on.
The second Wednesday pays people with birthdays landing on the 1st-10th, the third Wednesday is birthdays on the 11th-20th, and the fourth Wednesday is for those with birthdays on the 21st and after.
