Is there going to be a fourth stimulus check in 2022?

Almost three million Americans are signing a petition that calls on Congress to pass a fourth stimulus check.

This time, people are asking for $2,000 monthly payments.

Omicron is spreading rapidly, and many people are finding themselves sick and out of work again.

As this happens, again, Americans are asking for more help to survive.

The petition was created by a Colorado restaurant owner and has continued to grow. The new interest is likely due to the Omicron variant.

The petition states that Americans want $2,000 monthly payments for adults and $1,000 for kids for the remainder of the pandemic.

The petition currently has around 2,986,600 signatures.

While this is a great amount of support, the likelihood of it convincing Congress to pass another stimulus check is slim.

All the stimulus checks so far

The first stimulus check sent to Americans was under President Donald Trump in 2020.

The first round sent checks worth $1,200 to qualifying Americans plus $500 per dependent.

The second check was worth $600 for adults and dependents under Trump, and the third was worth $1,400 per adult under President Joe Biden.

As Americans continue to struggle, especially with the presence of a new variant, President Biden has not said anything to show there may be a fourth stimulus check.

80 Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris, have supported the idea of recurring payments during the pandemic.

Since then, the White House has shared that recurring payments would be too costly but another stimulus check isn’t impossible.
