Monroe County launching campaign to ensure businesses stay open

Monroe County is about to launch a campaign to make sure businesses stay open in the wake of an increase in reported cases of COVID-19.

News 10 NBC reports County Executive Adam Bello will unveil the specifics at an 11AM news conference today. He’ll be joined by Wegmans CEO Colleen Wegman, Rochester Mayor-Elect Malik Evans, Monroe County Public Health Commissioner Dr. Mike Mendoza and other local officials. As of last report, there are five hundred people hospitalized, with 141 in intensive care in what the state considers the Finger Lakes region, which includes Monroe County.

Bello has said Monroe County will enforce the state’s indoor mask mandate. At least 20 New York Counties have said they will not. However, he says enforcement will not include fines for the time being.

The news conference is at 11AM at the Wegmans Conference Center in Gates.
