Some Americans will be pleasantly surprised when they check their bank accounts in a few days. $600 and $1,200 checks are being sent to some that aren’t expecting it.
A specific group will receive these checks thanks to the Department of Agriculture.
Farmworkers and meatpackers as well as some grocery store workers are part of a $700 million dollar plan.

The plan is to send financial assistance to workers who were necessary amid the pandemic while cases were peaked.
The amount grocery store workers will get has yet to be determined.
This check is not being handled by the IRS. State agencies, local governments and non-profits are in charge.

The money is being collected by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack for disbursement.
“We recognize that our farmworkers, meatpacking workers, and grocery workers overcame unprecedented challenges and took on significant personal risk to ensure Americans could feed and sustain their families throughout the pandemic,” Vilsack said.
