A Summerhill man was arrested Saturday following multiple alleged violations of a court-issued order of protection, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested Justin D. Kellogg, 39, on July 12 after locating him at the protected party’s residence. He had two outstanding arrest warrants and now faces additional charges.
The case began on May 15, when Kellogg allegedly sent threatening text messages to the subject of a full stay-away order. A first-degree criminal contempt warrant was issued after Kellogg refused to cooperate with investigators.
Three days later, deputies responded to a second complaint involving continued text messages to the same individual. This led to a second-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense warrant, due to Kellogg’s prior domestic-related conviction.
Authorities received a tip on July 12 that Kellogg was at the protected party’s home. He was found hiding in a garage and was initially uncooperative until deputies warned of K9 deployment. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
Kellogg was processed and arraigned in CAP Court on July 13, where he was remanded without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Summerhill Town Court on July 15 at 5:30 p.m.
