On Saturday June 19, the fifth annual ROC Juneteenth 5k run/walk was held in celebration of Juneteenth.
The event was founded by director Gloria Johnson-Hovey in 2016.
Last year the event was held virtually with around 700 participants and this year the event was held both virtually and in person.
Every year the race honors a different Civil Rights leader; this year Claudette Colvin from Montgomery Alabama was honored.
This event continues to bring awareness to the historical date in the struggle for Civil Rights.
The registration fees go toward the funding of a Rochester Civil Rights Heritage Site that honors local Civil Rights leaders.
