Canandaigua Town Board postpones vote on renaming Squaw Island

After Canandaigua City Council acted quickly to rename an island on Canandaigua Lake – another local town board postponed any action on it.

The Canandaigua Town Board postponed a vote indefinitely, which would have renamed ‘Squaw Island’.

Members of the community who are pushing for the island to be renamed spoke to the board. They anticipated a vote, but instead received an indefinite delay.

They agreed to vote on a new version of the resolution at a later date, but did not indicate when that would be.
