Lawmakers are pressing the Cuomo Administration over concerns that cuts to curb Medicaid could end up hurting residents.
Democratic and Republican members of the Legislature used a Wednesday budget hearing to press the Commissioner of Health Howard Zucker and Medicaid Director Donna Frescatore for more transparency about what has led to soaring Medicaid costs.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that a plan would be implemented by the time the budget was passed. He said during his State of the State Address that those changes would neither cost counties more money, nor would they include cuts to the service.
It’s unclear what will come next in this ongoing process, or if Governor Cuomo is prepared to change parts of his plan if lawmakers continue to voice opposition.
