Auburn mansion listed for $50,000 has received more than 130 offers

Real Estate Broker Michael DeRosa says offers for a mansion in Auburn are piling in like crazy.

“Purchase offers are being submitted from all over the country,” he told The Auburn Citizen. “They’re piling into my inbox daily.”

The 113 North Street residence is on the market for $50,000. The city of Auburn is working with DeRosa to sell the property after it went through foreclosure in 2019.

But, even as the deadline for suitable offers passed – they continued to come to DeRosa’s inbox. He tells The Citizen that the property won’t necessarily be sold to the ‘highest bidder’.

Prospective buyers have to fill out a form that aims to identify the ways that they will preserve the property.

City Manager Jeff Dygert also told The Citizen that the plan is to sell the property to someone who has a good plan for restoring it to its natural state. The property carries a value of more than $162,000 – and the potential to be significantly more valuable than that.

The City will begin working through offers in the coming weeks. It’s unclear how soon the property could be outright sold, or how that process would immediately play out.
