Syracuse drivers face I-81 and I-690 closures starting Monday

Syracuse drivers will encounter several interstate restrictions beginning Monday, Oct. 5, including a daytime I-690 ramp closure and lane reductions on I-81 and I-690. The New York State Department of Transportation issued separate advisories for the West Street ramp, I-81 lanes and westbound I-690 on Friday, Oct. 2.

The I-690 eastbound off-ramp to Exit 15 at West Street will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for guiderail repairs. The signed detour sends drivers east on I-690 to Exit 15B at West Genesee Street and Downtown, then south on North West Street to West Street, the department said.
