I-86 ramp in Erwin to close Tuesday for pavement work

The eastbound Interstate 86 on-ramp at Exit 42 in the Steuben County town of Erwin is scheduled to close Tuesday, Oct. 6, for pavement work, according to a New York State Department of Transportation advisory. The closure near Coopers Plains is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a signed detour along Meads Creek Road and Route 415.

Motorists should follow the signed detour and allow extra travel time during the four-hour closure. The advisory applies to the eastbound ramp, not all lanes of I-86.

The schedule is weather-dependent and could change based on conditions, the transportation department said. The advisory covers the eastbound on-ramp at Exit 42, not the full interstate.

Drivers can check 511NY for current travel information before leaving. The department urges motorists to slow down and drive responsibly near road crews.
