West Elisha Street rail crossing closure extended in Waterloo

West Elisha Street rail crossing closure extended in Waterloo

The West Elisha Street railroad crossing in the village of Waterloo will remain closed longer than planned because of a delay in obtaining materials for its rehabilitation, Finger Lakes Railway said Friday.

The railway now plans to restart work Tuesday, Oct. 20, and expects construction to take about seven days. The company did not provide a firm reopening date in its Oct. 2 notice.

The schedule depends on weather and conditions at the site. Motorists should plan ahead and use alternate routes while the crossing is closed, the railway said. The notice did not specify a signed detour.
