Jay Jacobs won a seventh term as chair of the New York State Democratic Committee at the party's biennial reorganization meeting Thursday in Tarrytown, according to a committee announcement.
The party reported preliminary weighted vote shares of 81.7% for Jacobs, 13.7% for challenger Caitlin Ogden and 4.6% abstaining. It did not provide a raw vote count or describe how the weighted percentages were calculated.
The committee said newly elected State Committee members, its Executive Committee and officers took part in the reorganization. Jacobs' reelection keeps him in charge of the state party as it prepares for November's elections.
Jacobs said in a statement that he wants to build on the party's work to elect Democrats across New York. He also characterized Republican Donald Trump's policies as harmful to the state, a partisan claim in the committee's release.
Party names its officers
The committee listed Christine Quinn as Executive Committee chair and Pamela Hunter as first vice chair. Its other officers are Secretary Latrice Walker, Assistant Secretary Jason Clark, Treasurer David Alpert, Assistant Treasurer Lynne Boecher and Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Reich.
The announcement named seven at-large members: Mayra Linares, Mike Monescalchi, Patricia Reilly, Santos Rodriguez, James Scheuerman, Kathy Sheehan and Candis Tall.
Its list of vice chairs includes Adrienne Adams, Carl Heastie, Grace Lee, Grace Meng, Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Jeremy Zellner, along with other members. Shawn Hogan and Michaelle Solages were listed as policy chairs, and Stuart Appelbaum as labor representative.
The committee did not announce additional votes, rule changes or a timetable for work by the new leadership in its Oct. 1 release.
